The railway line from St. Gallen to Wattwil (opened in 1910) connects the eastern Swiss city of St. Gallen with the Toggenburg region. The route passes through gently rolling hills, valleys and idyllic landscapes against the backdrop of the eastern Swiss Alps. Wonderful views of Mount Säntis come into sight near Herisau. Numerous bridges and tunnels characterise this stretch of the Pre-Alpine Express.
