Giornico

The ancient but well preserved village of Giornico with its stone houses is located in the Leventina Valley (Canton Ticino), situated amid scenic vineyards and chestnut forests. Train passengers can catch sight of the village's seven churches, including the beautiful 12th century Romanesque Church of St. Nicholas which dates from the 12th century. Another attraction is the medieval Torre di Attone, a six-floor residential tower.
